Here at Horsefly Creek Veterinary Services, we are dedicated to keeping your horses as healthy as possible with a proper vaccination and deworming schedule.
Vaccinations
Our recommended vaccines for horses of all ages include:
A 5-way vaccine annually in the spring, we use the Core EQ Innovator which includes protection against rabies, tetanus, West Nile, and Eastern and Western Equine Encephalomyelitis.
A flu and rhinopnuemonitis vaccine annually in the spring with a booster in the fall for horses travelling or showing–we use the Fluvac Innovator for protection against equine influenza and equine herpes virus 1 and 4.
Deworming
Due to the growing concern for parasite resistance to dewormers, we offer fecal egg counts to determine if your horse needs to be dewormed and what product will be best if so.
For those who would rather deworm on a regular schedule instead, we recommend Quest plus (moxidectin and praziquantel) or a similar ivermectin in the spring and Panacur (fenbendazole) in the fall.
